Finally, OnePlus has announced its next flagship device OnePlus 5. OnePlus 5 will be sold for starting $479. The 6GB/64GB model is priced at $479 and 8GB/128GB model comes for $539. It will be available officially starting June 27.

It has an all-metal unibody design that looks very similar to the design of iPhone 7 Plus. It will be available in Slate Gray and Midnight Black colors. With 7.25mm thickness, this is the slimmest OnePlus phone. The dimensions of the phone measure 154.2 x 74.1 x 7.25 mm and it weighs 153 grams.

OnePlus 5 comes with 5.5-inch Full HD Optic AMOLED display with 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass 5. It comes with 2.45 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor and Adreno 540 GPU. It will be available 6GB RAM with 64GB storage and 8GB with 128GB storage options. OnePlus is using LPDDR4X RAM on this smartphone.

It runs on Oxygen OS based on Android 7.1.1. The company claims that Oxygen OS is clean and powerful with useful features. OxygenOS includes scrolling screenshots, app drawer, screen-off gestures, gaming do not disturb mode, customizable notification vibrations and “Secure Box”. Secure Box is similar to Samsung’s Secure Folder.

It also comes with a feature called “app priority” that automatically learns what apps you use most and the keep those apps located as soon as you turn on the phone. It will offer faster experience.

It has dual rear camera setup with 20 megapixels primary camera sensor and 16 megapixels secondary camera sensor. The primary sensor has f/1.7 aperture. The dual camera with “Portrait Mode,” offers the same functionality that we saw in the iPhone 7 Plus. It also has Portrait Mode for bokeh on photos and 2X optical zoom. It also allows for magnification up to 8x digitally. It can record up to 4K video at 30 fps and slo-mo video at 120 fps.

OnePlus 5’s camera app also offers Pro Mode that allows users to manually set ISO, White Balance, Shutter speed. OnePlus 5 also supports RAW images.

It has 16 megapixels front camera with Sony IMX 371 sensor, f/2.0 aperture, and EIS. The front camera can record 1080p videos at 30fps. It also offers “screen flash” option for low light scenarios and HDR as well.

It supports all major bands on FDD LTE and TDD-LTE. It supports up to 600 Mbps download speeds, and 150 Mbps upload speeds. It is also Bluetooth 5.0 ready. Other connectivity options include Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, 2.4/5 GHz, NFC, GPS, GLONASS and BeiDou. It also has 3 microphones with noise cancellation and Dirac HD Sound.

It has 3300 mAh battery with Dash charge. The company claims that the battery of OnePlus 5 lasts 20% longer than the OnePlus 3T. It is capable of pulling a day’s worth of power in just 30 minutes of charging. It has a fingerprint scanner on the physical home button that claims to unlock the phone in just 0.2 seconds.
