Moto Z2 Play with 5.5-inch 1080p display and new Moto Mods announced

Motorola just announced the Moto Z2 Play. Similar to the predecessor, it also supports Moto Mods.

Moto Z2 Play has 5.5-inch Full HD Super AMOLED display with Gorilla Glass 3. It is powered by 2.2GHz GHz Octa-Core Snapdragon 626 processor with Adreno 506 GPU. The phone will come in 3GB RAM with 32GB Storage and 4GB RAM with 64GB storage models.

It comes with Android 7.1.1 Nougat out of the box. It has 12 megapixels rear camera with dual-tone LED flash, Dual-Pixel Autofocus, Laser Auto focus, f/1.7 aperture and 4K video recording. It also has a 5-megapixel front camera with f/2.2 aperture, dual-tone LED flash.

Like other Motorola Phones, It also has Water repellent nano-coating. The fingerprint sensor is located below the display.

It offers 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11a/b/g/n (2.4 GHz + 5 GHz), Bluetooth 4.2 LE, GPS, NFC and USB 3.1 Type-C connectivity. It is packed with 3000 mAh battery with Turbo Charging. Turbo Charging lets you charge the phone up to 50% in just 20 minutes.

It has 5.99 mm ultra-slim aluminum unibody design. Dimensions measure 156.2 x 76.2 x 5.99mm and weight is 145grams.

The phone also supports Moto Mod connectors. The company introduced new JBL SoundBoost 2 mod with 10 hours of playtime. This Mod has a water-repellent coating and has fabric body. There is another TurboPower with 15W fast charging. Motorola also introduced Moto Gamepad Mod. Moto also showcases Moto Style Shells with Wireless Charging (up to 10W) in a variety of finishes.

The Moto GamePad Mod will work with all games supporting physical controllers. It connects via Moto Mods connector and comes with 1000mAh battery. It runs for 8 hours once fully charged. It has USB Type-C port for charging and a 3.5mm headphone jack for audio.

It comes in Lunar Gray, Nimbus Blue and Fine Gold colors. Pricing starts at $499. Moto TurboPower Pack Mod is priced at US$79.99. The Moto Style Shell with Wireless Charging is priced at US$39.99. JBL SoundBoost 2 and Moto GamePad are priced at US$79.99 each.
