The Xiaomi Mi Mix was launched only in China but garnered attention from all over the world. This 6.44 ‘bezel-less’ beauty is set to have a successor, the Mi Mix 2. Xiaomi’s CEO Lei Jun has announced that the Mi Mix 2 will be designed by the French designer, Philippe Starck, who designed the original Mi Mix as well.
Recently, reports have surfaced online claiming that the Mi Mix 2 will have the Fingerprint Sensor incorporated within the Display. This technology was recently unveiled by the Chinese company Goodix at MWC 2017. This In-Display Fingerprint Technology will transform a specific part of the screen into Fingerprint Senor and thus eliminates the need for a separate fingerprint sensor on the front or back.
Xiaomi has also confirmed that Mi Mix 2 will have a higher Screen-to-Body Ratio, rumors suggest that the company will probably bump it up to 93% from the original 91.3%. We are confident that Xiaomi can pull this off easily, considering the fact they successfully replaced the external earpiece with cantilever piezoelectric ceramic acoustic technology.
The original Mi Mix packed a Snapdragon 821 SoC, couple with 4 GB RAM and 128 GB Storage. The Pro variant has 6 GB RAM and 256 GB storage under the hood. Xiaomi unveiled the White color variant of the Mi Mix at CES 2017
It is reported that Mi Mix 2 will launch in the second half of 2017. We are sure that Mi Mix 2 will come with exciting features and groundbreaking design. We can expect further leaks, renders, and information regarding this much-awaited smartphone.
