WhatsApp introduces new feature ‘Status’; An End-to-End Encrypted Snapchat Stories Clone

In the latest update, WhatsApp has introduced a new tab ‘Status’ that lets users share moments in with their friends and family in the form of photo, video or GIF. This feature is similar to Snapchat Stories but it is end-to-end encrypted like WhatsApp messaging.

This move is not surprising because Facebook has the habit of copying Snapchat features. Facebook-owned Instagram also copied Snapchat’s stories and introduced stories.

WhatsApp Status

Now WhatsApp has 1.2 billion monthly users and users are sending 60 billion messages per day including. These messages include 3.3 billion photos, 760 million videos, and 80 million GIFs. It shows the importance of multimedia messages on WhatsApp. So, WhatsApp status will surely get users’ attention.

Now, this feature is being rolled out to all users across the globe. It will be soon available to all users in coming hours. This feature will be available for iOS, Android and Windows Phone.
