Coolpad Mega 3 is an entry level phone for the price of just Rs. 6999 and offers low-end hardware. But this phone is exciting due to the three sim slots and a dedicated microSD card slot. This is why this phone is worth to check. When most of the people were already using two numbers, JIO came with free services for months. So, owning the third number became a necessity. With this phone, you can use all three numbers in a single phone.

Coolpad Mega 3 offers the plastic build with the textured back panel. The device doesn’t look like cheap but it actually is. It has the removable back panel that houses three micro SIM card slots. You also have a dedicated micro SD card slot.

Below the display, it lacks any physical key and offers three non-backlit capacitive keys. It has the power button at the right edge while left edge has the volume rocker. Top edge got 3.5 mm audio port and at below edge, you see micro USB and primary microphone.

In terms of design, it is fine and one cannot expect more than this when he is just paying Rs. 6999. The textured back also improves the grip. Even on the front panel, you see the textured design.

This phone comes with 5.5-inch HD display that offers good colors and satisfactory sharpness. Due to the reflective nature of the display, it was not as impressive in outdoor. But we still justify it considering the price of the phone.

It is powered by an octa-core processor based on MediaTek MT6737 chip and 2 GB RAM. Initial performance of the phone was fine but I do not expect very good performance on heavy usage.

It also offers 16GB of built-in storage from which around 10.3GB is available to users for personal use.

The phone runs on Cool UI 8.0 based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow. This UI is the heavily customized Android to offer you a good user experience along with several features. It also comes with few Coolpad branded apps and bloatware.

It has 8 megapixels rear camera with LED flash and 8 megapixels front camera. The camera app is simple and light in weight to offer you the good experience. It offers HDR, Panorama, Beauty modes, along with few real-time filters. Front flash is another attractive addition in this phone to make it worth of its price.

I took few shots in broad day light and the result was good but I am not sure how will it perform in low-light. Both rear and front cameras were fine in initial usage.

The phone comes with all the connectivity options including 4G with VoLTE. While VoLTE is not a surprise, the option to have 3 SIM slots is really an attractive deal for many Indian consumers. Nowadays most of the phones offer dual SIM but restrict with Hybrid slots. But this phone does not restrict you in any way.

This phone is packed with 3050 mAh battery that seems to be more than enough considering the hardware specifications of the phone. You also have power saving modes for getting even better battery life.

At this price, Coolpad Mega competes with Moto E3 Power and Redmi 3S, but having 3 SIM support makes it a unique offering in this price. Front flash is an additional advantage to make this phone interesting.
