Qualcomm announces the Snapdragon 835 with Quick Charge 4.0

Qualcomm has officially announced next generation flagship processor Qualcomm Snapdragon 835. Qualcomm partnered Samsung to develop this new chip built on 10nm FinFET node that. This new chip will replace the popular Snapdragon 820/821 to become the best choice for top-tier mobile phones.

This new processor offers 30 percent increase in area efficiency with a 27 percent improvement in performance. It also offers up to 40 percent less power consumption and improves battery life of the device.

Snapdragon 835 also comes with Quick Charge 4.0 that supports 20 percent faster charging than Quick Charge 3.0. This new Quick Charge 4.0 claims to charge your phone’s battery to provide 5 hours battery life in just 5 minutes of charging. It can charge from 0-50% in just 15 minutes. These claims were made based on testing done on 2750mAh battery.

No, you should not worry about heating. This new technology runs degrees cooler than before.

It is USB Type-C and USB Power Delivery (USB PD) compliant. Qualcomm also confirms that this new Soc is also compliant with Google’s new specifications for Type-C charging. It also supports the dual charge.

This latest Soc is in production now and it will be available for smartphone makers by the end of this year. We can expect devices with Snapdragon 835 and Quick Charge 4.0 next year by Q1 or Q2 2017.
