Hike Messenger brings video calling feature

Hike Messenger

A day after we reported video calling feature in WhatsApp, Hike Messenger announced video calling for all users.

Hike has been testing this feature since September this year with selected users. Now this feature is available for all. The company has started rolling out this feature to Android users for now.

To make a video call, follow these steps:

  • Download Hike Messenger, if you don’t have it OR update Hike Messenger if you haven’t updated it since September.
  • Select the chat thread of a friend you want to connect with.
  • Tap on the call button on the top right that prompts you to further select Voice or Video and start off your call.

Just like Google Duo, Hike also shows you live preview of caller before you answer the call.

As I already confirmed, this video calling feature is only for Android users and iOS users will have to wait for few more months.

Commenting on this development, Kavin Bharti Mittal, Founder and CEO, Hike Messenger, said, “This was an obvious one and we’re excited to bring it to the market so quickly. We’ve been in beta for a few months and the results have been really positive. We’re now excited to roll this out across our entire user base. We see India as primarily a sight and sound market – and we believe video calling will have a large impact on how people communicate inside of Hike.

Hike claims to have 100 million users on its platform and around 95% users are from India. We are not sure if 100 million users count is for registered users or active users.
