A few weeks back, we reported YouTube plan of adding a community feature. Now, the company has officially announced the launch of YouTube Community. This community allows creators to better engage viewers using text, images, gif and more.

With this, YouTube wants to improve the engagement and also keep creators interested in the platform by offering more tools for connecting with the audience.

The service is now available in public beta with the group of  public testers. In coming weeks, it will be available for the wider group of creators.

In few channels, now you can see a new “Community” tab. YouTube creators can also use this community page to inform their subscribers and fans about updates to their channels. Creators can run a mini-social network on their page. See the screen shot below.

Viewers will see the posts in their “Subscriptions” feed in the YouTube mobile application. They can also subscribe to receive push notifications from their favorite creators.

YouTube says that this community feature will remain in testing for some time and YouTube will collect user feedback before making it publicly available.
