Apple will be releasing iOS 10 update tomorrow. Soon after this big iOS update, WhatsApp will also push a big update for iOS 10. WhatsApp 2.16.10 for iOS will bring many new features including integration with Siri, rich notifications, video calls and more. WABetaInfo, a Twitter account which tracks beta updates of WhatsApp, posted a changelog and expected features in this update.

WhatsApp for iOS will have tight Siri integration. Siri will be able to send messages using WhatsApp. it will also be able to make voice calls and videos calls (if available) to contacts. We reported about Siri integration a few weeks back.

WhatsApp has also made changes in the forward picker menu and has added frequent and recent contacts. You will be able to reply to WhatsApp calls directly in your lockscreen.

Rich notifications will also be there. WhatsApp has been working and if this feature is finally ready, it can be the part of next update. But,

We have been waiting for video calls for a long time and it was expected in 2.16.8 version. WhatsApp never enabled this feature while it is ready. I am not exactly sure but it can also be the part of this new big update.

In a different news, TOI also reported finding a new “Speak” option in WhatsApp for iOS. This option appears with other options like Reply, Forward, Copy, Delete and Message. This option enabled message reading. If you tap in this icon, WhtsApp will start reading the selected message.

This option is available for few users only. I checked with many people and didn’t get success in getting this option. If you are using WhatsApp for iOS and see this option, let us know in comments below.
