Facebook-owned WhatsApp already has end-to-end encryption to protect users conversations. Now, it is working on password protected chats for better privacy.

According to a report published by Android Authority, WhatsApp will soon as a six-digit passcode protection feature. These details were found as a part of a text translation program for WhatsApp to convert strings from English into Dutch. Translation phrases include “Enter the current six-digit passcode:”, “Passcodes don’t match. Try again.”, and “Enter a recovery email address”

This recovery email program is optional but useful if a user forgot the passcode and wants to recover to access chat.

There will be passcode option for individual chats and we can also expect this option for the whole app too. But, we are not sure about anything on this.

There is no official confirmation on this feature. So, we cannot say when we can expect this feature. In coming beta updates, we can expect this feature to come for testers. We will be updating you when we have more information on this matter.
