Facebook Messenger adds ‘Instant Video’ to make your conversations more interesting

Facebook has just added a new ‘Instant Video’ feature to Messenger which lets users share and view video feeds within the conversation. It is like broadcasting yourself for few seconds and say your message.

Do not confuse with video calls. The instant video is not exactly a video call but an instant short video broadcasting. With this, Facebook has copied one more thing from Snapchat. For past few months, Videos and Snapchat have been two primary focus of Facebook. Facebook is trying to add videos in all products and copy features of Snapchat, which it could not buy.

Facebook has explanations to show why this feature is useful but I am not sure if many of us will like to record a video and send while talking.

To use Instant Video, both users in conversations much have the latest version of Messenger app. From inside conversation, tap on the video icon on the top right corner of the app and start broadcasting yourself. The recipient will start seeing you with the sound muted. The recipient can watch it and then join back with its video stream.

Facebook Messenger has a larger user base and most of Snapchat users also use Messenger. Facebook wants to those users to come on Facebook and do not miss Snapchat. Snapchat should rejoice as Facebook still consider it a potential rival.

Facebook says that sending a live video is “as easy as sending a sticker or emoji.”
