Today, Apple will announce next generation of iPhone device. But, we have already started getting information of future iPhone devices which will be launched in 2017 or later. A few days back it was reported that Apple is planning to ditch home button. Now we got information about all-glass body iPhone.

The United States Patent and Trademark Office has granted Apple a patent for the all-glass mobile device with the wraparound screen.  This design will lack any physical buttons and will also be waterproof.

All-glass iPhone

“A handheld computing device that includes an enclosure having structural walls formed from a glass material that can be radio-transparent,” Apple writes. “The enclosure can be formed from a hollow glass tube or two glass members bonded together. A laser frit bonding process may be used to hermetically seal the two glass members together to create a water resistant electronic device.”

The casing will be from a unibody hollow glass tube or two glass panels bonded together. Apple explains that glass-only mobile device design will let it place antennas needed for communications and will also add rigidity to the phone. The bottom and the top portion will be sealed with special caps.

We cannot confirm when Apple will actually use this patent to bring an all-glass iPhone. There have been rumours for all-glass body iPhone for past few months. But, this patent was filed back in 2015 before any of these rumours actually existed. Now, we can expect iPhone that will be launched next year to use this patent and come with this all glass design.
