Remember the HERE maps? Starting today, Here Maps will be called HERE WeGo. Name is not the only change, it also added few new features to make navigation easier.

Why the company decided to change the name? They explanation for this.

‘HERE Maps’ was a bit too generic, we think. Too similar to a bunch of other, lesser apps. And the truth is that very few regular users open our app to look at a map – they want to get somewhere and find the fastest way to do that.

App’s home screen gets “Where to?” instruction in search box which asks you to enter destination and then takes you to choosing between different modes of transport to get to that location. It saves few extra clicks. The company confirmed that Route Comparison screen got the most design changes.

The app also got new transport options in many major cities. It adds options to get to your destination from care-sharing firm Car2GO. It will show you nearest car on map with the estimated cost of using the rented car to get to your destination and details about car.

In many cities, you can also get taxi information for your route. The company has also improved bicycle routing.

All these new feature will be available on Here WeGo web app. You can download the new HERE WeGo app from the Google Play Store.
