Finally most popular instant messaging service WhatsApp is working to add GIF support. Latest beta release for iOS shows that this change is coming soon.

WABetaInfo which tracks changes to WhatsApp beta updates found that version 2.16.7.1 of the app will support autoplay GIF links. Users will not be able to upload and embed GIFs directly into conversations. So, you will have to share the GIF links and it will play pretty similar to Facebook. According to the changelog, you will also be able to save a GIF image as a static image in your phone’s camera roll.

This support was much demanded as people want  to enjoy GIF. As of now, we have to open the GIF link in the browser to see what a friend sent.

It was not confirmed but there was one more possible addition in this new beta release. Maybe you will be able to continue to listen to an audio message even if you will exit from chat. I am not sure if this addition is good or not. If this is there, you will have to pause the audio before leaving the chat otherwise, you will have to find where the audio is playing.

What do you think about these new changes? Do you think that addition to GIF support will make your conversations interesting on WhatsApp? Share your views with us in comments.
