Chinese handset maker OnePlus has announced that it will launch its next flagship smartphone OnePlus 2 on June 14. Pricing details are not yet known.
In addition to this, the company is also ditching its invite-only model. OnePlus 3 will be invite-free right from the launch day. And all future OnePlus smartphones will be invite-free.
“The demand for the OnePlus One was much higher than expected. Some got into a frenzy hunting for invites, while others have complained continuously and loudly ever since. Regardless though, the invite system allowed us to scale our operations and manage our risks to help us grow more sustainably,” reads OnePlus blog post.
All previous OnePlus smartphones were sold in invite-only system. It worked for OnePlus One but other two phones were not as successful as we were expecting.
Company will also be launching this in a VR event. For this, it has already launched a VR headset. You can order it for Rs. 1 form Amazon. OnePlus 3 will be available on open sale on OnePlus.net at 3:00 PM Eastern Time on the same day.
