This assistant is coming in two expressions, a chat app and audio-only. Chat app will be on mobile platform while audio-only will be used on other Google projects like Google Home. Google Assistant has been customized for the platform it is in So, you will get better experience.

Google hopes that Google Assistant can become an integral part of your life through your smartphone, Google Home and other Google projects.
