Today, Google unveiled a virtual assistant tool at its annual developer conference Google I/O in Mountain View. This virtual assistant has the power of Google’s natural language processing, Google search and Google’s deep mine of data.
It seems to be an upgraded version of Google Now. You can ask for any answer. It understands you and offers you a personalized experience. This technology is voice activated and is available across devices.
Sundar Pichai said that 1 in every 5 Google search queries on Android in U.S. is a voice search query. He also confirmed that Google’s speech recognition technology was down to an 8 percent of word error. So, this new virtual assistant is going to offer better service.
It seems to be similar to a chat bot where you can ask multiple queries at the same time. It can distinguish questions and then return the correct answers to each question. Google Assistant appears to be a direct competitor of Siri but it is smarter.
This assistant is coming in two expressions, a chat app and audio-only. Chat app will be on mobile platform while audio-only will be used on other Google projects like Google Home. Google Assistant has been customized for the platform it is in So, you will get better experience.
Google hopes that Google Assistant can become an integral part of your life through your smartphone, Google Home and other Google projects.
