Design

The design of Coolpad Max is very similar to many other phones we have seen in recent times. I could find various similarities in design with iPhone 6s Plus and Meizu M3 Note. This is because metal phones with round edges are bound to have this kind of design. It will be available in Gold and Rose Gold colors. But antenna bands are in black colors to make it look different. We got the chance to check both and Rose Gold variant looks awesome.

Coolpad Max

Coolpad Max has a 5.5-inch large display protected with Gorilla Glass 4. At left edge, it has a power button and a slot to insert SIM try. As the phone comes with Hybrid slots, you can either use dual SIM or 1 nano SIM and 1 microSD card at the same time. At the top side, it has a 3.5 mm audio port. At the left edge, it has volume rocker keys very similar to iPhone. At the below side, it has speaker grill and micro USB port.

The phone does not have any buttons below the display and went with on-screen controls. These can be hidden unless you swipe up on the screen.

Rear camera and dual LED flash are on the back side. The placing is at the center of top side which is very similar to HTC One A9. Fingerprint sensor is also on the back panel. Unlike Coolpad Note 3, this sensor comes in round shape.

Display

It comes with 5.5-inch full HD 2.5D curved glass display. Display claims to have 1500:1 contrast ratio and 95% NTSC color gamut. The display is bright and color reproduction is good. Viewing angles are also good. The display is also protected with Gorilla Glass 4.  Brightness is good enough to use it comfortably even in outdoors.

This phone comes with a 13-megapixels rear camera with dual-tone LED Flash, ISOCELL CMOS sensor, f/2.0 aperture, 6P lenses, PDAF. At front side, it has a 5-megapixels camera.

Coolpad Max Camera

I couldn’t check camera in detail but was able to capture few shots in artificial lights. Images were of good quality from both of the camera. But I was expecting 16-megapixels camera at the price point.

Camera app is fine and clean. You get few camera modes including beauty mode, HDR and Panorama. Camera effects are also there to have good effects on photos. Tapping on top 3 dots open some more options including GIF, refocus and a long exposure mode.
