We have been hearing about end-to-end WhatsApp encryption for a long time. Now, company has rolled out it for all users on all platforms. Starting today, all your WhatsApp conversations will be encrypted.

WhatsApp users running latest version of WhatsApp app will have their messages and media end-to-end encrypted by default. WhatsApp spokesman also confirmed that encrypting videos were the last piece of the puzzle to solve.

End-to-End encryption means all your messages and content of communications will not be stored in plaintext on WhatsApp’s server. Data will be encrypted and even company will not be able to decrypt messages. When you send a message to a person of in a group, that message will only be available to the person or the people in that group. No one can see inside that message. Not cybercriminals. Not hackers. Not even WhatsApp officials. So, WhatsApp will not be able to hand over your data to authorities even if served with a warrant.

End-to-end encryption helps make communication via WhatsApp private – sort of like a face-to-face conversation,” company says.

WhatsApp has enabled this to all billion users using WhatApp.  WhatsApp has already notified all users by adding a notification in all chat screen.

This also confirms that WhatsApp chat will not be used for advertising purpose. This issue was raised when Facebook bought this service back in 2014. People thought that Facebook could scan messages to show relevant ads. But, WhatsAp can still track the behaviour of users.
