This time, Apple is offering a device with similar specs as in latest iPhone 6S but the design of iPhone 5S. So, people who are looking to buy a smaller but powerful device, they have a good device with the 4-inch display. Not just existing iPhone users, many Android users who are not comfortable with large devices can think about switching to this iPhone.
I also want you to take a look at the trend of Android devices launch last month. Many flagship devices were having screen size less than 5.5 inches. While we have the perception that 5.5-inch display is the standard size, actual data is not the same. This is why companies decided to keep the size lesser than 5.5-inche.
