We already know about Google’s fast broadband service and its drones to deliver internet. Now, we just got information about Google’s new experimental 5G project. Google is experimenting with entirely new aircraft at Spaceport America in New Mexico. These solar powered drones are offering high-speed internet connectivity to remote locations. This project is going on under the codename ‘Project SkyBender’.

Google’s these drones are using millimeter wave radio transmissions. This technology can transfer multiple gigabits of data per second. But using this on flying drones is a big challenge. Google is trying to fix issues and make this theoretical project a reality. This project has been in works for long time. Google spent few months last summer in building two communication installations on concrete pads at Spaceport America.

Google has already rented a 15000 square feet of hanger space in glamorous Gateway to Space terminal.

This project is the part of Google Access, a division that houses Project Loon. Google already know that Facebook is its potential competitor in this section. So, it has to work hard to make to make this project not only successful but also affordable.

Google has declined to comment on this matter.
