Micromax Yu Yutopia Launch postponed to 17 December; Find out why?

Micromax Yu Yutopia’s new flagship which was going to launch on December 7, now postponed to Decemeber 17. The reason behind this delay is Delhi high court has restrained to import and sell of this mobile handset. This is because Micromax infringe radio patents of Ericsson without paying any loyalty.

This is the old war between Ericsson and Micromax over loyalty payment. Last November, High court ordered Micromax to pay loyalty as 1% of the selling price of devices. Micromax was ready to pay Rs.55 crores to Ericsson but it didn’t include this new batch of subsidiary in the same. So, again case is open in court as Ericsson is saying Micromax was not paying full loyalty and arguing that new subsidiary of YU Yutopia is pertained to Micromax.

The court issued bailable warrants against Sumeet Kumar, Vikas Jain and Rahul Sharma, Co-founders of Micromax. The next hearing of this case is on 15 December for which the Micromax will have to present there.

Founder of YU Televentures, Rahul Sharma tweeted about the updated launch date, “Hold your excitement, as we plan to announce something special with YUTOPIA. The most powerful phone now launches on 17th Dec.”

A spokesperson for Micromax said that the launch delay is because of the two smartphones which is lining up for release and they did not wish to hold two separate attempts.
