Until now, we have seen various rugged phones with claims like water and dust resistant. But new phone DIGNO Rafre is going to break the boundaries and creating buzz for its ultra-ruggedness. It claims to be the first in the world that can be washed with soap. Yes, creators of the phone: KDDI and Kyocera claims to achieve this ruggedness.
This phone is also rated for hot water resistance at 43 degree Celsius. It is also IP58-rated and features a self-healing rear panel very similar to what we saw in LG G Flex and LG G Flex2 smartphones. The main features of DIGNO Rafre is that the phone is washable with “bubble” of hand soap. Kyocera encourages the use of foam-based soap. It is also shockproof (MIL-SSTD-810G). Display of this phone is also protected by Dragontrail X glass coating and can be operated even with wet hands.
DIGNO Rafre features a 5-inch TFT LCD display with 720×1280 pixels resolution and runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop. Processor and GPU details were not available on official listing. There is also a 13 megapixels rear camera and a 2 megapixels front camera.
Connectivity features of this phone are 4G, 3G, WI-FI, Bluetooth and GPS. It is packed with 3000 mAh battery which claims to offer 20 hours of VoLTE talk time.
It will be available in Coral pink, cashmere white, Marin Navy colors. It will be launched on December 11 in Japan priced at JPY 57,420 (roughly Rs. 32.300). Kyocera has also indicated they don’t plan to sell it elsewhere. So, do not expect global launch until they change their mind to make it available in other countries.
