Instagram has announced improvements to its Instagram Direct. Company confirmed that more than 85 million people use Instagram Direct, so it is important to update this feature to make more valuable.

Instagram Direct now has threaded messaging. So, you can go back to see what content you shared with a person in past. Now, you can also give name to a group. There is an option for quick response to send selfie or emoji.

If you find something interesting on Instagram and want to share it with someone, you have to mention his/her name with @ to share. Company found that 40% persons are doing this to share a content with friend. So, there was a need for better option to share the content. Now, you can directly send that content to the person via Instagram Direct. This makes content sharing very easy. For this, use the arrow icon just right of comment icon below a photo or video on Instagram.

You do not need to worry about privacy. Photos and videos shared via Instagram Direct will only be visible to the person with whom you shared. If you shared content of an account with other person, the other person can only see the content if the account is not set to private. In case the account is private, other person must follow him to see the content.

This step can also be seen as Instagram’s first step to come into instant messaging battle.
