Back in June this year, we reported that Twitter is planning to remove the 140 characters limit from direct messages. Now, company has officially removed the character limit from messages. Changes are already live on Android, iOS, Mac app, Tweetdeck and Twitter.com.
Now, Twitter users can send messages of up to 10000 characters. This limit is more than enough for messaging. You can now express yourself in longer messages.
Twitter confirmed that it has no plans to change the character limit of tweets.
Twitter wants to compete with other messaging apps like Messenger and Whatsapp. This is why it has been working on messaging for past few weeks. Although the changes are coming slowly but we can expect Twitter to launch a separate messaging app for Twitter DMs.
