Amazon India has confirmed that it will now also offer an option to deliver your order to a trusted neighbor in case you wouldn’t be available to receive the package. This option will be great for those who live alone and will be at job at the time of order delivery. Families in which all adults do jobs can also use this option to get their package delivered to neighbours.
You will be able to specify the trusted neighbour and his address to tell Amazon. In case there is a possibility that you will not be available to pickup the order, you will be able to specify the neighbour’s address and name. Amazon will deliver your package to your neighbour. This is very helpful when you have to leave the town soon after ordering something. You can specify the neighbour for the delivery of your package. It is worth to mention that your neighbour must be at next door.
This option will be available in my orders page after ordering something from Amazon.in. Just below the track package button, you will see this option.
It is not clear if the option is available for all locations or just for few specific locations.
This is a win-win situation for both customers and Amazon. Package delivery costs high for online retailers. If the courier guy takes 2-3 rounds to deliver your item, it takes time to deliver your product. It also costs high for retailers.
This is not the first time when Amazon tried to help customers by offering delivery options other than their addresses. Last year, Amazon India confirmed pickup stores in Delhi and Mumbai in which you can select an alternate place to deliver your item. This was in partnership with Bharat Petroleum.
