Ashley Madison, a social network for adulterers has been hacked. Impact Team, Hackers’ group behind this attack is also posting users’ data online. Ashley Madison claims to have 37 million users. Now, company is trying to take the leaked data down tp protect users’ privacy.
The Impact Team hacked the website and leaked to data to show how Avid Life Media (ALM, the site owners) is cheating its customers. It takes $19 for deleting a profile and erase the data. But they did not wipe profiles completely.
“Users almost always pay with credit card; their purchase details are not removed as promised, and include real name and address, which is of course the most important information the users want removed,” The Impact Team said. “Avid Life Media has been instructed to take Ashley Madison offline permanently in all forms, or we will release all customer records, including profiles with all the customers’ secret fantasies and matching credit card transactions, real names and addresses, and employee documents and emails.”
Hackers have only published small piece of data just to prove that they have something. They want their demand to be fulfil within the given time.
Avid Life Media confirmed the hack and they are trying to investigate. They claimed that the hack was performed by someone who has access to internal network. This is a criminal offence and they are trying to resolve the issue without affecting its users.
