Yahoo has revamped its mobile search engine to offer better search experience on mobile devices. It now puts images, videos and reviews related to your search in the spotlight to offer quick results. Yahoo wants you to “take action right away” from search results.
Changes in search is now available in US. It will be rolled out in countries in coming weeks. To use it on your smartphone, open browser and type search.yahoo.com in address bar. Now try a search to see new results. Yahoo’s search app has not received these changes. Company didn’t talk when these changes will be there in mobile app.
“We know when you’re on the go, you’re often searching for a specific piece of information. So rather than delivering endless links for you to sift through on a small screen, we beautifully assemble the most relevant information in a way that allows you to take action right away,” Andrew Poon, Vice President, Product Management said in blog post
Yahoo also recommends users to set Yahoo as default search in their mobile browsers to enjoy better search.
In India, almost every one use Google Search. Yahoo has partnership with few data service providers to open Yahoo search as default page soon after connectivity. But users still go to Google and then perform search. I cannot say if these changes will attract some users. But it is good to improve service in order to keep users interested in your service.
