Google Unveils Nest Cam Security Camera and upgraded Nest Protect Smoke Detector

Nest cam security cameraGoogle’s Nest lab has unveiled its new Nest Security Camera and the new version of its Nest Protect smoke detector.

Nest cam security camera features a 3 megapixel with 8X zoom. It can record full HD video at 30fps. It can also detect motions can listen sound to send alert notifications to your phone. It also has a  8 High-power infrared LEDs (850nm) with IR cut filter. So, you can also see the whole room at night. It also has a mic and speaker to listen voice and talk back. It comes with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity.

  • 1080p HD video streaming at 30 fps with 1/3″

It will cost $199. Nest cam also uses cloud based DVR system to store your videos. Nest is also offering a $10 per month subscription service. In this, it will store up to 10 days of video and send alerts about suspicious activity.

If we talk about upgraded smoke detector, it will have more sophisticated sensors for sniffing out fires. Life-span of the smoke detector has also been increased to 10 years, up from 7 years in the existing version. It can also perform monthly test to check if speakers and horn are working properly. It costs $99.
