Lenovo bought Motorola from Google back in October last year. But Motorola and Lenovo both exist together. Company has started identifying markets where only one brand will exist. But India is the market where Lenovo and Motorola both has strong customer base. So, they can continue selling Motorola and Lenovo smartphones.
India and China will only be the two markets where company is planning to retain both two brands. But company has started merging backend operations like manufacturing and other. Company also confirmed that Motorola and Lenovo will be totally different entities in India and Motorola and Lenovo stores will not carry each other’s products in any case.
Motorola smartphones are available in India exclusively via Flipkart. Customers who want to experience the device before buying it can visit Moto Experience center. Motorola has started its first Moto experience-cum-service centers center in Bangaluru and other cities will also get the same.
Company is also planning to bring more entry level and mid-range smartphones with 4G connectivity. Company is also set to launch its device customization service Moto Maker in India. Although, company didn’t confirm the time frame for the launch, but it will be available soon. This Moto Maker service will allow users to customize front and back panel of the device. They can also add a message on the body of the smartphone.
