Aakash tablet manufacturer Datawind has launched ultra low cost smartphones Datawind PocketSurfer 2G4, PocketSurfer 3G4 and PocketSurfer 3G5 in India. PocketSurfer 2G4 is a dual SIM 2G phone and is priced at Rs. 1999 only. On other hand, PocketSurfer 3G4 is a 3G smartphone for Rs. 2999. Company also partnered with Rcom for free data offers. These smartphones will come with 1 year free data offer from Reliance.

PocketSurfer 2G4

If we talk about Datawind PocketSurfer 2G4, it features a 3.5 inch capacitive display with 320 x 480 pixels resolution. It runs on Android 4.0 ICS. It is powered by 1GHz Cortex A5 SoC with 256MB of RAM. It has 512 MB RAM. It also has a VGA camera. It comes with 2G, WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity.

DataWind PocketSurfer 3G4

Datawind PocketSurfer 3G4 features a 4-inch capacitive display with a 800 x 480 pixels resolution. It is powered by a 1.2GHz dual-core Cortex A7 SoC with 256MB of RAM. It has 512MB of internal storage. It also has a 5MP rear camera with an LED flash and VGA front camera. It comes with 3G, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and FM Radio.

“The feature phone market is about 150 million unit a year. So, if we can convert even 3 per cent of this, which is around 45-50 lakh units, it would be okay. The target that we have set is to sell 50 lakh units in next 12 months and are targeting tier II and III cities,” Datawind President and CEO Suneet Singh Tuli told PTI added.

These new smartphones will be available on Naaptol’s TV, print and online shopping platforms starting today. By the end of this month, these smartphones will be available across the country.

Company has also upgraded its PocketSurfer 3G5 with free internet plan. It is priced at Rs. 5499.
