Reliance Jio to Build Wi-Fi Network in Central Delhi By June This Year

North Delhi Municipal Corporation has partnered with Reliance Jio Infocom to roll out Wi-FI service in city by June this year.

Central Government has set up a dead line to cover cities and towns with 10 Lakh or more population with high-speed wi-fi under the Prime Minister’s ‘Digital India’ initiative. The top 25 cities have to achieve this target by June 2015. This is the reason Delhi will have to achieve this within the specified dead line.

Reliance Jio is planning to use street light pillar to install wi-fi devices around the city to offer high speed wi-fi service. Company has already started working on the project and is expected to complete within the dead line.

Reliance Jio has also confirmed to roll out 4G service across India covering 90% urban areas. As per the guidelines, all the companies which won BWA spectrum in 2010 will have to roll out the service in 90% area before August 2015. Failing in this, Department of Telecom will have the right to withdraw the license given to the companies. And the new center government is very strict in these things.

It is a good news for all people living in Delhi or other metro city of the India. Digital India project is in works is expected to run as per the timeline decided. So by the end of the year, most of the metro cities will have wi-fi hotspot zones across the city.
