Finally Google Play Store has more apps than Apple’s app store for the first time. Play Store has over 1.43 million apps while Apple’s app store has over 1.21 million apps.
App ranking and analytics firm AppFigures has revealed these numbers in a report titled “App Stores Growth Accelerates in 2014.” Company compared three popular app stores- Google Play, Apple App Store and Amazon App Store.
As per the report, Amazon app store grew nearly 90% to 293k apps. It is a good news for Amazon. But Google will be more happy.
Google Play’s developer community is large and more engaging. It has around 388,000 different developers. This is much higher than Apple’s app store has. Play Store saw rapid growth in terms of number of developers. Apple’s app store published apps from nearly 282000 different developers.
If we look at the data of this current year, Google added more developers than any other app stores in 2014. Report also points that all three app stores grew by at least 50 percent as compared to previous year.
Report also published the fastest growing categories of different app stores. In iOS apps, Business category was fastest growing. But in Google, games category was fastest growing category.
Previous year was very good for Play Store and we hope to see similar kind of growth this year too.
