Celebrating Kisan Diwas, online retailer Snapdeal.com has announced a new section on its online store for farmers. This new section is called “The Agri store” which offers farming products like seeds, fertilizers, farming tools and irrigation tools.
Company also confirmed that Hindi version of the Agri store will also be launched in coming days.
“Now, farmers will be able to access products critical to their daily needs easily at the click of a button, thus bringing forth the inclusive power of digital marketplaces in the realm of agriculture as well,” Snapdeal.com CEO and Co-founder Kunal Bahl said.
On its website, company claims that this store will impact 1 Lakh farmers by 2015.
I cannot say how many farmers will use online shopping to buy these products, but this is certainly a good initiative. This government also claims to bring broadband to Indian villeges. We can expect a revolution in next few years.
