Samsung to discontinue ChatOneIf you own a Samsung smartphone or ever used any, you will definitely know about ChatOn messaging service. Bada users use this app because they do not have WhatsApp. ChatOn is available for almost all popular mobile platforms and even on web. But no one is active there. WhatsApp also hurt this app and now very few people are there who are active user of ChatOn (Mostly Bada users). This is the reason why Samsung has decided to shut down this app. ChatOn will be discontinued in all markets except US from February 2015.

Samsung’s Chaton faced tough competition and lost market share to WhatsApp, WeChat, Viber and other services. But it is still not clear why it decided to keep the service active in United States.

Samsung confirmed this new to Yonhap News and also said that it will give time to users to back up their data before the shutdown. Company blamed “changing market conditions” for this decision. ChatOn claims to have a strong users base of 100 million people. But most of the those users are those who get this app pre-installed in their smartphone but use it hardly.

More updates on this news are expected to be provided soon.
