Few days back, WhatsApp launched blue tick marks as a read receipts. Most of the people were happy with this new feature, but many saw it as a big privacy hole. So, WhatsApp has added an option to let users disable read receipts. If you want to disable this, you can do it under the privacy section of your WhatsApp settings.

This new feature is only available on WhatsApp for Android. And this is expected to come for iOS and Windows Phone users too.

If you disable this option, WhatsApp will no longer show other people when you read their messages. It will also stop showing blue tick to you too. It means, if you do not want to show your read receipts, you will also not be able to see other read receipts.

This new version not only adds the option to disable the read receipts, it also adds the heads-up notifications on Android Lollipop. Although, we can not confirm it in India, because we are yet to receive this new Android version. But Android Police has confirmed this via screenshot.
