Google Releases Material Design Inspired “Messenger” App for Android

If you do not like to use Google Hangouts for SMS on your Android device, Google now has another option for you. Google’s new “Messenger” app for Android appeared on Play store. It aims to replace your default SMS app This app offers Material design look and feel.

This app is basically for sending and receiving SMS and MMS messages to any Android phone. You can also send group text messages, videos, photos and even audio messages to your friends. This messaging app also gives direct option to block SMS sender. It comes with full emoji support, colored text threads and message archiving. New material design is delightful. It also offers faster searching if you are looking for a specific conversation in a thread.

Messenger app supports Android devices running on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean or higher.
