Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation Limited (IRCTC) seems to be in mood to come back in e-commerce battle again. In just few weeks after shutting down its shopping portal, company has issued a new tender invite for selection of co-branded marketplace solution provider.
IRCTC Tender form is available for Rs. 1000 (non refundable amount) which is needed to deposit along with demand draft of Rs. 2 lakh. Tenure of contract is 2 years which can be changed any time by IRCTC.
IRCTC wants to give a personalized and seamless shopping experience to users. This is why it has mentioned various things in the bid for bidders to understand and bid accordingly. Bidder will be providing a co-branded marketplace for IRCTC which has to be managed by bidder and offer all the services. Website should have a dashboard to check the traffic conversion, banner utilization, and check other reports. Bidder will manage all the email campaigns, CRM, social media promotion, and sales.
Tender also confirms that new IRCTC marketplace will also offer 1 day or 2 day delivery services. In case of delay in delivery, bidder will also be liable for paying penalty as per the slab.
IRCTC has also issued the commission structure for 22 different categories.
Last year, IRCTC had announced its e-commerce plans and partnered with Yebhi.com to manage its e-commerce platform. But this didnot go well and contract was not renewed because Yebhi.com didn’t get expected conversion. Manmohan Agarwal of Yebhi.com confirmed that partnership was based on the assumptions that Yebhi.com will get traffic from the IRCTC website and it received but it didn’t get expected conversion.
It will be interesting to see which company wins the bid and provide the e-commernce platform to IRCTC.
What do you think about IRCTC’s move to come in e-commerce market?
