Today, Facebook introduced a new feature called ‘Safety Check’. This new feature helps you to let friends and family know you’re safe in case of any disaster or crisis in your area. This feature will be available on Web, iOS, Android and feature phones.

If you are in any disaster affected area and the tool is activated, Facebook will send an alert of push notification asking whether you are safe. If you are safe, you can select “I’m safe” and then you will be marked as safe and news feed story will be generated with your update. Your friends can also mark you as safe if they know that you are safe.

If any of your friends is in disaster affected area and this tool has been activated, you will receive notification about those friends who marked themselves as safe.

In past few years, we have seen few big natural disaster. So, this tool can help you in marking yourself as safe and send a happy message to your friend. Hopefully, you will never have to use this tool.
