Today, Google has launched Google Drive for Education in its existing Google Apps for Education. Drive for education offers unlimited storage, Vault and enhanced auditing for free.

Drive for Education

Drive for education offers same features which are in Drive for work but it is for free. In Drive for education, users will enjoy unlimited storage for free but maximum file upload limit is 5TB. Google Apps Vault is an add-on to Google Apps which lets you retail, archive, search and export your emails and chats. Enhanced auditing features will let you see the activity of files individually by using auditing tools and API.

Until now, Google Apps for Education users only got 30GB free space.

Google confirmed that it takes care of the security to protect all drive users. Every file uploaded to Drive is encrypted from your device to Google and in transit between Google Data centers.

Google says that Drive for education is rolling out in coming weeks. And it will first roll out unlimited storage, then audit reporting tools and at last it will roll out Google Vault.
