Finally YouTube has finally introduced paid channels in India. Now, YouTube channels can ask to pay for the subscription. All paid subscription include a 14 days free trial.

If you want to create a paid channel, you should have a popular YouTube channel with at least 10,000 subscribers. Your account should be in good standing condition. You should have a phone verfied account. And your account should meet general YouTube partnership criteria and must have an adsense linked YouTube account.

Subscription rates range from Rs.5 to Rs.20,000. Subscribers will be charged monthly or annually. SUbscribers can select payment cycle. YouTube will also offer paid packages with multiple channels in the package. When a free channel switches to paid channel, all the subscribers will automatically unsubscribed.

YouTube announced paid channelts back in May 2013. In the paid subscription, Channel owners could keep more than 50% of revenue while YouTube keeps the rest of the revenue generated by the channel.

It will be interesting to see how this model works in India. In India people wants to access the free resources. Most of the people search for content available for free.
