Today, Twitter has announced a new feature Mute for Twitter.com, Android and iPhone apps. This new feature lets you mute other users and stop receiving notifications from them.
“Mute gives you even more control over the content you see on Twitter by letting you remove a user’s content from key parts of your Twitter experience,” Twitter explained.
If you want to mute a user, visit his profile on Web, Android or iOS and click on gear icon on the page and then select “Mute @username.” Mute option has also been added in the more options below the tweets. You can mute those users whom you do not want to unfollow but also do not want to see their tweets and retweets on your home timeline. You will also not receive push notifications and SMS notifications from those users.
Muted users will never know that you have muted them. You can unmute a user any time you want.
This new feature is being rolling our gradually and will take time to reach all users.
