Today, Google added few basic image editing capabilities to Google Docs. Now you can crop,rotate and add borders to images in a document in the Google Docs.
A new crop icon has been added in the tool bar. To crop the image, select the image and click on the crop icon. Drag and crop the blue lines until the image has been cropped. A shadow of original image will be there to let you know how original image looked.

This feature was initially rolled out for Google Slides in March this year.
