Microsoft has re-branded its existing office web apps as ‘Office Online.’ You can also access office Online at Office.com. Office.com includes Microsoft Office on the Web- Excel, Word, PowerPoint and OneNote.
“Today we are making two changes. First, we’re renaming Office Web Apps to Office Online so you know where to find our free online experience. We heard from customers that the inclusion of Apps in our name was confusing. Are they something I install? Do I go to an app store to get them? No, to use them all you need is a web browser,” Microsoft announced.
Just visit Office.com and start using Word Online, Excel Online other web apps online. You only need to have Microsoft Account. All your files created with these online apps will be saved to OneDrive. You can also work with your friends in real-time.
In Office Online, you will get hundreds of free Word, PowerPoint and Excel templates.
Yesterday Microsoft also launched re-branded version of SkyDrive as OneDrive. With this online version of Office apps, Microsoft aims to compete with Google Docs.
