Google has launched a new online education Oppia. This new tool lets users create interactive online educational content. These activities are called “explorations” and can be built by multiple people around the world. For this, one does not need to have any kind of programming experience.

“We’re excited to announce Oppia, a project that aims to make it easy for anyone to create online interactive activities, called ‘explorations’, that others can learn from. Oppia does this by modeling a mentor who poses questions for the learner to answer. Based on the learner’s responses, the mentor decides what question to ask next, what feedback to give, whether to delve deeper, or whether to proceed to something new,” Google explains.

Google also said that Oppia is more than just a content platform. It gathers data on how learner interact with exploration and notify the exploration authors to fix shortcomings. Exploration can also be embedded in web pages.

Key Features

  • Learners receive personalized, customizable feedback after submitting answers
  • Explorations are embeddable in any webpage

  • A full online editor GUI
  • A comprehensive extension framework allowing straightforward integration of new interactions and classification rules
