Facebook Terminates its @facebook.com Email Address Service

Facebook's @facebook.com email

Facebook is terminating its email address service which offers @facebook.com email address to all users. All emails sent to @facebook.com address will be forwarded to the primary email address of the account. By default email forwarding is on. But users can turn it off in the settings if they do not want to receive forwarded emails.

Facebook email address

Facebook’s email feature is used by very few people. And there are so many users who still do not know that the feature actually exists. When someone sends email to your Facebook email address, it comes in messages. it don’t even support cc’s, bcc’s, or subject lines. With this feature, Facebook tried to bring email service under the social network. But it never created it as good as an email service. This is the main reason users never used this service.

“We’re making this change because most people haven’t been using their Facebook email address, and we can focus on improving our mobile messaging experience for everyone,” a Facebook spokesperson confirmed.

This move also raises a privacy issue. One can easily reach to the primary email of a user by sending email to the @facebook.com email address. To know the facebook email address of a user, see the profile url of the user and note down the username. Facebook email address of a user is [email protected]. Send email to this and it will delivered to primary email address inbox.
