Instagram has just announced another cool feature called Instagram Direct. This feature lets users send Photo and Video Messages to Friends. This is now available in Instagram app for iOS and Android. Release date for Windows Phone app was not disclosed.

Instagram Direct

“From how you capture photos and videos to the way you start conversations through likes and comments, we built Instagram Direct to feel natural to the Instagram experience you already know. When you open Instagram, you’ll now see a new icon in the top right corner of your home feed. Tap it to open your inbox where you’ll see photos and videos that people have sent to you,” Instagram announced.

Instagram has added a new inbox icon at the top right corner of home screen. You can see all photos and videos send to you in inbox. While sharing a new video or photo, you will see two sharing options: Followers and Direct. Once you select direct option, it asked you to select Instagram users whom you want to send. Select your friends, write a caption and hit the send.

Instagram will also let you know which of your friend has seen it. You can also see in real-time when they add comments or like it. When someone from people you follow sends you a photo or video, it will appear immediately. If someone you are not following sends you a photo or video, it will be up to you whether you want to see it or not.

Instagram has added new features slowly since it was acquired by Facebook back in 2012. It added profile pages on web, video recording & sharing and much awaited Windows Phone 8 app.
