“With this alternative channel of booking, the passengers will have an additional convenience and better experience of booking e-ticket,” said Rakesh Tandon, CMD of IRCTC while launching app.

“We feel the App is ideal for the modern consumer who is always on the move. Windows is the most trusted and widely used platform and offers the requisite security required while handling vast amounts of personal and financial user data,” he added.

With this app, users will be able to perform most of the tasks they do on IRCTC portal. This app can be used to plan new trip, make railway reservation, check PNR, check or cancel booking, check ticket availability and other things.

Microsoft is also excited to see company’s interest in Windows Phone platforms. Joseph Landes, General Manager of Microsoft Corporation commented, “We are excited to make the IRCTC app available exclusively on the Windows platform. We are committed to bring exciting and new experience to your Windows devices and will continue to create many such firsts.”

As per Railway Guidelines, the service will not be available from 8AM to 12 noon and from 11:30 PM to 12:30 AM.
