No Link Between Violent Games and Anti-social Behaviour [Study]

People always think that violent games may affect child mind and can make him violent. People also blame violent game for the reason of children’s Antri-social Behaviour. But all these rumours should be stopped now. There is no link between violent games and violent behaviour.

University of Queensland has published a new report titles “Failure to Demonstrate That Playing Violent Video Games Diminishes Prosocial Behavior.”

Study was conduted with three separate experiments with 160 undergraduate students. In these 160 students, 55 percent was male aged between 17 and 43. All participants were asked to play rendomly selected anti-social (Grand Theft Auto IV), violent (Call of Duty: Black Ops’ Zombie mode), non-violent (Portal 2), or pro-social (World of Zoo) game for 20 minutes. Then in second phase, the game was reduced to 2 Portal 2 and GTA IV. Every time, identical results were found.

In third phase, few students were taken dor study and were asked to play game for 8 minutes. But the results were similar. After game play, students were asked a series of questions about their level of interest, frustration and arousal with the game. And researches analyzed their behaviour while answering those questions.

“Three experiments failed to find a detrimental effect of violent video games on pro-social behaviour, despite using contemporary and classic games, delayed and immediate test-phases, and short and long exposures,” reads the report.
