LG Confirms Next Flagship as ‘G2’

LG has just sent press release to confirm that its next flagship will officially be called ‘G2.’ All future smartphones will be launched under this G series. This smartphone will be announced in a press event on August 7.

LG also announced that all its 4:3 display smartphones will be called “Vu:”

LG’s current flagship smartphone is Optimus G and LG is dropping Optimus now. LG has also confirms that G series smartphones will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processors. It will give 75% better performance that its predecessor, the Snapdragon S4 Pro.

“Our vision is to make LG’s newest G devices synonymous with excellence, raising the bar even further for the ultimate in user experience,” said Dr. Jong-seok Park, president and CEO of the LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company. “The new G2 will build upon the excellent reputation established by previous G Series products.”

Several leaks confirms that LG G2 will feature a 5.2 inch 1080p display surrounded by a relatively thin bezel. It is expected to be powered by a 2.3GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor. Other features a 2 GB RAM, 5.2 inch full HD display, 13 megapixel rear camera, and Android 4.2. Front panel of the phone will not feature any physical button. Phone’s sleep and volume keys will be located on the back panel.
