According to the latest reports, Lenovo has become the largest PC maker company of the world surpassing Hewlett-Packard. Lenovo has 16.7% market share while HP has 16.3% market share. But overall PC shipment has decreased 10.9 % from the same period last year
Lenovo has reached to this number in the second quarter of 2013. It has been growing fast since third quarter of 2012. Lenovo had 14.9% marketshare in 2Q 2012. Dell is at the third spot with 11.8 5 market share growing from 11.0%. Other companies are Acer and Asus that have decline from past year.
If you look at the tablet above, you will see that every company has shipped less number of PCs as compared to last year. Reports says that this is the 5th consecutive quarter of declining shipments. It makes this period the longest duration of decline shipment in the PC market’s history.
Growing market of Smartphones and tablets is also affecting overall PC sale. This is the reason why every company has shipped less number of PCs.
Lenovo has seen strong growth in America but major decline in Aisa/pasific market. This is not the first time when Lenovo has surpass HP. And the difference is very small and I am sure HP will try its hard to get its position back.
Lenovo is now entering in emerging smartphone markets and these numbers will surely inspire Lenovo executives.
